It always comes down to the interpretation of religious texts - the Mimamsakas and Vedanatas differ on their views of the Vedas. The Mimamsakas emphasize the focus on rituals while the Vedantas focus on knowledge. To the Mimamsakas, knowledge isn't enough; while the Vedantas believe that knowledge is all that matters focusing on the Upanishadic values. Mimamsakas are liberated through the absence of attachment & bondage which is caused by actions. The Vedantas focus on the relationship between atman and brahman; a type of knowlege acquired outside of space and time.
So which is more important? Knowledge or action? It is believed that knowledge is a kind of action; a process that takes place in space and time. In grammatical analysis of text, action verbs are the most important. Are these arguments that action is more important? It seems that it comes to the chicken or the egg argument....
