This blog contains the insights, questions, and reflections of college students from various institutions in Atlanta: currently, the members of the Spring 2014 Introduction to Sacred Texts at Spelman College and, previously, the members of the Fall 2012 Introduction to Sacred Texts class at Emory University.

Everyone, welcome! You may or may not have seen the flyer for this class posted around campus or in the Religion Department office:
These three questions will guide our inquiries this semester as we explore Hindu, Buddhist, and Islamic sacred texts. We won't end up with simple answers. Rather, a major focus of our course will be understanding the ways in which big questions --- questions that are central to understanding the world and our place in it --- spawn a breathtaking array of responses. Even more, we'll look at how these responses evolved, are understood, and affect the lives of those who hold them.
As a fun little exercise, does anyone know the source of the picture and quote in our flyer?
