In this weeks class the question of what was inside the Kaaba arose and, intrigued by this, I decided to do some outside research.  Two interesting things I found were the Black Stone (which supposedly dates back to Adam and Eve) as well as "The Station of Abraham".  What pulled me in about these was the connection to Christianity/Judaism.  I feel this connection exemplifies the idea that Islam accepts the beliefs of Christianity and Judaism and is more of a continuation with a more recent prophet.  This made me wonder if part of the reason Islam gained popularity amidst such large religions was because it was just a newer idea that added to what was already believed instead of something completely new that might seem outrageous.  In my mind it definitely made it easier to accept.

In addition, the question of why Muhammad's face is blocked out was asked.  I remember being that it is because he didn't want to be worshiped as the one God and there was worry that future generations would revere him in such a way that he would almost be looked and prayed to like an idol. With the idea of there only being this one God being so integral to Islam I feel this makes sense.

If anyone wants to discuss any of these thoughts feel free to comment!
